Three times the delay, three times the change of dates. But when the wedding finally happened, it was three times the awesomeness that was – the spectacle of George & Evonne’s breathtaking day at the Sofitel Hotel and Sunnybrae Estate.
I had first met Evonne nearly a decade ago, when I photographed a wedding for her family member, and years later I started working under George as a soccer coach at Adelaide Comets. When the time came to book me for their special day, they granted me full creative licence to do whatever it takes, wherever it takes – to get the photos I need to achieve my vision for them. They had put complete trust in my vision and creativity – and we delivered.
Such a high end wedding deserves the cinematic approach, where I am able to apply my experience in fashion photography to deliver a wedding day that resembled a fashion editorial. This was elevated further by Cristina Tridente from Love+Couture+Madness creating the magnificent wedding dress for Evonne – where I made full use of its styling for the photography.
The classy settings and rooms of the Sofitel Hotel served as a bespoke backdrop for the bridal party, the dapper groomsmen and George settled in with a refined look and feel in front of the camera, and the bridesmaids and Evonne showcased their looks straight out of a magazine editorial. The atmosphere changed once again, when we moved to the outdoor reception area of Sunnybrae Estate – soaked in sunset and glowing at night under fairy-lights – it was the perfect fairytale setting and ending for a couple I had known for many years, congratulations George and Evonne.
